Tapered roller bearing mounting method

1. How to install tapered roller bearings:

Bearings must be installed in dry and clean ambient conditions. Before installation, carefully check the machining quality of the shaft and housing mating surfaces, shaft shoulder end faces, grooves and connecting surfaces. All mating and connecting surfaces must be carefully cleaned and deburred, and residual molding sand must be removed from the unmachined surface of the casting.

Bearings are cleaned with gasoline or kerosene before installation, used after drying, and well lubricated. Bearings are usually lubricated with grease or oil. When using grease lubrication, grease with excellent performance such as no impurities, oxidation resistance, rust prevention, and extreme pressure should be selected. The grease filling amount should be 30%-60% of the volume of the bearing and bearing housing, and should not be excessive. The double row tapered roller bearings with sealed structure and the water pump shaft connection bearings are greased and can be used directly by the user and cannot be cleaned.

During bearing mounting, equal pressure must be applied to the circumference of the ring end face to press into the ring. It is not allowed to directly hit the bearing end face with a tool such as a hammer to avoid damage to the bearing. When the amount of interference is small, press the bearing ring end face with the sleeve at room temperature, hit the sleeve with a hammer, and press the ring evenly through the sleeve. If installed in large quantities, hydraulic presses can be used. When pressed in, ensure that the outer ring end face and the housing shoulder end face, the inner ring end face and the shaft shoulder end face are pressed without gaps.

When the amount of interference is large, the bearing can be mounted by oil bath heating or induction heating. The heating temperature range is 80°C-100°C, and the high temperature does not exceed 120°C. At the same time, tighten the bearing with a nut or other appropriate method to prevent the gap between the ring and the shoulder due to shrinkage in the width direction after the bearing has cooled.

The clearance should be adjusted at the end of the installation of the single row tapered roller bearing. The gap value should be determined according to different use conditions and the amount of interference of the fit. If necessary, a test should be performed to confirm. The clearance between the double row tapered roller bearings and the pump shaft bearings has been factory adjusted and does not need to be adjusted during installation.

After the bearing is mounted, a rotational test should be performed. First, turn the shaft or bearing housing by hand. If there is no abnormality, it should be run at low speed with electricity and no load, and then gradually increase the speed and load according to the running situation, and detect noise, vibration and temperature rise. If any abnormalities are found, stop the operation and check. It can only be delivered after the running test is normal.

2. Disassembly of bearings:

When using bearings after disassembly, a suitable dismounting tool should be selected. When disassembling the inner ferrule of the interference fit, the ferrule can only increase the tension, and it is not allowed to transmit the disassembly force through the rolling element (outer ring), otherwise the rolling element and raceway will be crushed.

3. Bearing use environment:

Selecting specifications, dimensions and accuracy according to service components, service conditions and environmental conditions, and matching the right bearings are prerequisites for bearing service life and reliability.

(1) Application: tapered roller bearings are suitable for bearing radial and axial combined loads mainly radial loads. It is usually used in pairs with two sets of bearings. It is mainly used for transmission parts such as front and rear hubs, active bevel gears, differentials, and reducers of automobiles.

(2) Allowable speed: In the case of correct installation and good lubrication, the allowable speed is 0.3-0.5 times of the limit speed of the bearing. Under normal circumstances, a limit speed of 0.2 times is better.

(3) Permissible tilt angle: tapered roller bearings usually do not allow the shaft to tilt relative to the housing bore. If there is an inclination, the maximum inclination must not exceed 2 degrees.

(4) Allowable temperature: Under the conditions of normal bearing load, high temperature resistance of lubricant and sufficient lubrication, general bearings are allowed to work at an ambient temperature of -30 °C - 150 °C.

4. Installation method of tapered roller bearing

(1) Installation method of thrust tapered roller bearing: thrust cylindrical roller bearing and thrust needle roller bearing are suitable for low-speed occasions. Thrust tapered roller bearings have slightly higher speeds than surface thrust bearings. Thrust bearings are mainly subjected to axial loads in assemblies and are widely used. Although thrust bearings are installed and running.

(2) How are gears and tapered roller bearings assembled? The gears should be designed with axial positioning steps. The outer ring of the bearing is locked, and the outside of the inner ring is locked with a lock nut. The preload of the lock should be set according to the conditions of use.

(3) How to install and adjust the clearance of tapered roller bearings? In general, tapered roller bearings can be used face to face and back to back. The clearance group should be selected according to the bearing size you choose and the transmission accuracy required by the mechanism! The adjustment method can be achieved by pressing and release.
